Hi, I’m Dr. Kim Nichols.

I have led a two-decades long career of service, working in direct patient care, as an educator, and, more recently, as an administrator.

In addition to patient care, my professional interests lie in organizational culture, leadership development, employee wellbeing, career satisfaction, and creating healthy work environments and cultures of belonging.

I have delivered keynote addresses, didactic trainings, workshops, and small-group sessions on topics like the importance of mentorship and sponsorship, promoting cultures of feedback, creating work and educational environments where people can thrive, and mitigating moral injury and burnout in the workforce.

From the outside, this probably looks like a very successful career, but if anyone had asked me earlier in my career where my interests lie or on what I wanted to focus in my career, I wouldn’t have been able to tell them.

Although I enjoyed my work, my career lacked focus and direction, and so did I.  I was frustrated.  I suffered several career missteps, and I felt that my career trajectory had stalled.  It wasn’t easy.

One day, a chance opportunity for me to step outside my comfort zone led to a career pivot that galvanized an innovative spark within me, illuminated my greater purpose, and eventually gave me the confidence to seek other opportunities that aligned.

Although I was terrified, taking that initial step outside my comfort zone made all the difference for me to move forward and find more joy in my career.

What step do might you need to take?  How can you get what you want out of your career?
